I’m getting my freedive training on.
One of my goals for 2016 is to learn how to safely dive to 100 feet.
So I signed up for an FII Level II class in September.
I’m nervous and excited to take the class. Not bad nervous. Good nervous. Like when you know you are going to Disneyland and cant wait. 🙂
Freedive Training
I met up with a great group of local freedivers including Lora from episode 14 of The Spear Podcast and Paul who will be in the same class in September.
We set the line to about 60 feet but my Suunto D4i was metering 64 feet. The water was cloudy as you’ll see in the video but it was warm. Around 72!!
We did a few rounds of free immersion. I recorded everyone’s first dive then put the camera away.
I went to 35′ on my first and 64′ on my second.
I felt great. I equalized without issues and felt very comfortable.
I did 3 or 4 regular drops to 64′. Even though I felt great with the breath-hold and clearing; on the last drop I felt the start of a cramp in my left calf.
Now I know what to work on.
I jumped out of the rotation and grabbed my camera again to record everyone’s last dive.
Check out the video!
